So, a quantifiable number of immigrants will enter under this ruling, vs an unquantifiable number under the EU open borders arrangement.

Something manageable v something unmanageable. You choose - and YOU pay for your choice.

Did you vote for 3 million Hong Kong Chinese to come and compete with middle class Britons for their jobs, schools and houses?

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
I don't think 3m will leave unless there's an atrocity, but it's only time before people start disappearing and the intimidation starts for real. I expect many who do leave will end up in Australia or Canada.

Let em come.. I’ve spent time in Hong Kong and they are great people, hard working and no chips on shoulders... probably be more patriotic towards the UK than most.

Every delivery I have had over the past few months have been made in China, there is nothing we can do, gone too far, blame thatcher she started the fall of our country.

I have many individual clients from Hong Kong, some have been in the middle of the battles of the past year or two. I couldn't help but feel like we'd abandoned them and I know that they were silently feeling that too.

Forgetting the complaints on the social & economic side of things, if 100, 1m, or even 3m take up the offer, this is the honourable and right thing to do.

3 million are not going to come over straight away, the Mainland chinkies in charge will see to that

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
How any person thinks 3 million people coming into the most densely populated place in Europe, with an already struggling infrastructure, won’t have a massive negative effect on our way of life must be a naive, air headed mong living in denial.

Wages will drop, services will break, housing, NHS etc etc.

I've got no problem with the HK Tiddlies coming over, they generally don't integrate all that well but they do keep themselves to them selves and they make a blinding Kung Pao chicken (number 49 with chicken fried rice please)

Some of the bravest people on earth they saw long ago what was to come
Chinese governments will never integrate with democracy, they lied to Britain and were scheming from the second they took over.
I woulf love to see financial embargo's put on China and any country who refuse to have human rites and democracy.
The big white men who said yes to China and Russia being world powers have now made their billions and fucked off. Crazy wild Capitalism fucks humanity and promotes greed, how can anything go wrong eh?.

No more than about 10% will take up the offer.

Very good honourable move by the government

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
Not only has the country gone to the dogs, the dogs are about to get eaten.

Joking aside, 3 million is a hell of a lot of people. The population of Wales is 3 million. Personally I think this country is overrun enough without this as well, although I have nothing against Hong Kong-ers per se. Where is the money going to come from for the extra homes, hospitals, schools, GP surgeries (which are already at breaking point) to cope with another country the size of Wales showing up on our shores? Based on past form the Tories will make cuts rather than invest in the infrastructure required.

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
The Chinese will be understandably delighted to see as many so many hostile HK residents as possible leaving the country.

And we can welcome the 3 million into Britain who will then be competing with the native middle class population for employment which will be particularly interesting with the severe global recession due in the near future.

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
No problem with the non-slope ones, they were British until a few years ago anyway then had Slopist Citizenship forced upon them.

Even some of the chinky ones would be ok, like Bruce Lee, as long as they only look like Chinks and don't act like them or identify with them. Best if they are old enough to remember our rule over them with favour.

Re: 3 Million Hong Kongers
The Chinese government is quite capable of bringing itself down. All it has to do is try and act - not just talk, but act - like a superpower.

It will explode from within.
